Our Events

Over the many decades, the church has played an essential role in spiritual leadership and social activism, hosting monumental events in history that shaped both the faith community and the broader fight for justice such as in 1923 John Wesley hosted a speech by Marcus Garvey, a pioneering leader in the Black empowerment movement. In 1945 – First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt addressed the congregation, reinforcing the church’s commitment to justice and equity. In 1963 – The church was honored to host the funeral of civil rights leader Medgar Evers, marking its role as a sanctuary for those fighting for freedom and equality.
